Yay

Altogether a banner day. We had several accomplishments that we felt really good about:

- In the morning, we managed to find a laundromat and do our laundry, while feeling like we were communicating more effectively with people than we mostly had before.

- We found a longer-term apartment! That's the big one for sure. I had posted to baexpats.org that we were looking for an apartment, and someone contacted me offering to rent us her apartment. Largely because we're not going through an agency, we're paying several hundred dollars less per month than we thought we might have to. It's in the oldest neighborhood of the city (San Telmo), which is often described as the bohemian neighborhood. We're excited to move at the beginning of March :)

- Tonight we coordinated an informal get-together at the local Carnaval celebration, of some expats (and one porteño) that we know. It's nice to know that even here, in an unfamiliar city, we can reach out to people and have a social world that works for us.

Again: a banner day.

  1. *have our laundry done. There were coin operated machines, but folks off the street don't get to use them. The woman who washed, dried and folded our clothes was very friendly :)
